Deer Management Program to Start in September

The 2011-2012 Fairfax County Deer Management Program will run from September 2011 through March 2012. The program utilizes all three population control methods currently permitted by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries – archery, managed hunts and sharpshooting. The sharpshooting and managed hunts will be conducted at selected park sites throughout the county.

Public information meetings for the archery portion will be held in each district where the selected parks are located. Those interested may visit at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/living/animals for detailed information and dates and locations of those meeting places.

More information about the program is available on the Fairfax County website at fairfaxcounty.gov.
