Gardner to Face Sex Abuse Charges in Mid-October Trial

Michael Gardner was seen in Arlington Circuit Court by Judge Joanne Alper this morning to determine when he will face trial on three felony counts of sexual abuse of three minor girls.

He was given a trial date range between Oct. 11 and 14. The final trial date will be determined depending upon whether or not the charges are tried separately or together. The prosecution may request that the three cases be tried together, but Gardner’s attorney, Peter Greenspun, said he will oppose joint motions if the prosecution brings them up.

On Monday, an Arlington Grand Jury formally indicted the Falls Church resident.

The charges stem from alleged incidents that occurred on June 16 and 18 in Gardner’s home.

Gardner was joined in court by his wife, Robin, former Falls Church City mayor and current Council member.
