Republican Announces Run Vs. State Sen. Saslaw

In advance of yesterday’s deadline to file with the state, Robert C. Sarvis, an entrepreneur, lawyer, and small-business owner, filed as a Republican candidate and announced his run for the Virginia Senate in the 35th District, which now represents the City of Falls Church.

Sarvis, 34, will challenge veteran legislator State Sen. Dick Saslaw in the November general election. He is a native of Northern Virginia. He graduated from the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in 1994 and from Harvard University in 1998. He also holds degrees from the University of Cambridge and NYU School of Law.

He worked as a software developer and a math teacher prior to law school, and has since served as a law clerk to the Hon. E. Grady Jolly of the U.S. Court of Appeals, and as an attorney with Gibson Dunn and Crutcher. In 2008, Sarvis co-founded an award-winning mobile-applications development company, Wertago LLC, where he currently works.
