Robert E. Brosnan of Falls Church has been named director of the Arlington County’s Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development. Brosnan, who has served as planning director since 1988, will succeed Susan Bell, who is retiring in June. Brosnan has worked in Arlington since 1977. He is closely associated with the County’s “Smart Growth” planning policies, and the development of its two Metro corridors. Brosnan received a Master’s of City and Regional Planning from Catholic University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Management from Georgetown University.
