The News Press asked Falls Church to bring its wackiest hats to the Memorial Day celebration, and eight contestants delivered. From Jorene Stull’s first-prize winning homage to the 75th anniversary of state parks, to Jimmy Jung’s ballcap-mounted jab at Princess Beatrice of York’s hat worn at the royal wedding, contestants showed creativity and craftiness in making their wearable creations. While Stull’s towering design won her first place in the contest, Atlas Loutfi’s hat and mask combo, and Phillip Coupard’s googly-eyed sombrero were both strong contenders, earning them second and third place, respectively.
