Mason Falls to Appomattox in Regional Semis

The George Mason High Mustang baseball team made a valiant effort in Wednesday’s baseball regional semifinal against Appomattox, but fell in extra innings, 4-3.

Fighting back from an early deficit, Mason tied the Raiders 3-3 and the game carried into multiple scoreless extra innings. On account of darkness, the matchup had to be moved to Marshall High School’s lighted field in the10th inning. In the 11th inning, Appomattox got a homer in the top and then held Mason scoreless in the bottom of the inning to win 4-3.

The Mustangs, who finished 15-9 for the season, say farewell to seniors Tyler Duncan, Chris Horneman and Paul Weber.
