Mason Students Win Tinner Hill ‘Dear Editor’ Contest

Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation has announced the winners of the 14th annual “Dear Editor” contest for 2011. This years’ first and second place winners are Michael and Matthew Irvine, twins, in the 11th grade at George Mason High School.

Third place goes to Nadine Coupard. The two honorable mention winners are Maeve Curtin and Jaya Chavern. All of the winners this year are from Mason.

The “Dear Editor” contest is co-sponsored by the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation, The Washington Post and Diener and Associates. The contest is a tribute to Dr. Edwin B. Henderson, who wrote over 3,000 letters to the editor during his lifetime.

The winners will receive their awards at the Tinner Hill Blues Festival on Saturday, June 11, at Cherry Hill Park.
