Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell’s decision to slash Virginia’s support for public broadcasting by 25% was decried as “shortsighted” by State Del. Adam Ebbin in a statement today. “While the amount of money his line item veto will save the state is negligible in terms of our budget, the cost of this action to Virginia families will be immense. The loss of non-commercial stations, many of which carry essential educational programming for young children, is too high a price for Virginia families to pay,” Ebbin said.
