Two events sponsored by Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia, in conjunction with Virginia Cooperative Extension, will be offered this weekend to help participants with their spring and summer gardening.

On Saturday, April 30, The Sunny Garden at Bon Air Park will be the site for free demonstrations on herb gardening (9:30 a.m.) and gardening for birds and butterflies (10:30 a.m.), while the Shade Garden at the park will host demonstrations on gardening for colors in the shade (10 a.m.) and container gardening (11 a.m.). Complimentary refreshments, plants (while supplies last), informational brochures and planting tips will be available at both gardens, which are located at the corner of Wilson Boulevard and North Lexington Street in Arlington. All demonstrations are free.

On Sunday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. a flower and herb sale will be hosted at Glencarlyn Library Community Garden. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the garden. In addition, Rhonda Stevenson of Country Gardens will bring hundreds of perennials, flowering shrubs, exotic hostas, columbines, ferns, tropicals, herbs and more to support the sale, which will be held at 300 S. Kensington St., off Carlin Springs Road.
