F.C. Councilman Webb Joins Call for Gay Adoption in Va.

Falls Church City Councilman Lawrence Webb was slated to be among the lawmakers and advocacy groups statewide holding two press conferences, in Richmond and Alexandria, urging the elimination of barriers to the adoption process by gay and lesbian prospective parents.

Falls Church City Councilman Lawrence Webb was slated to be among the lawmakers and advocacy groups statewide holding two press conferences, in Richmond and Alexandria, urging the elimination of barriers to the adoption process by gay and lesbian prospective parents. They called for Gov. McDonnell and the State Board of Social Services to “put the best interest of Virginia’s children first by eliminating discrimination in the adoptive process,” noting there are currently over 1,000 children in Virginia’s foster care system. Current Virginia law allows for discrimination based on sexual orientation in private adoption agencies licensed by the state. Northern Virginia’s State Del. Adam Ebbin and Arlington County Board member Jay Fisette were also slated to participate in yesterday’s press conferences.
