George Mason High School boys’ soccer coaches recently compiled an All-Decade soccer team for the period 2000 through 2009. During that time, the team won four state championships (2000, 2002, 2004, and 2009) and finished as the state runner-up once (2005). Selections are listed below along with graduation dates and accomplishments. Achievements outside the decade were not considered in making selections, though they are included with some individual descriptions.

Alex Fatovic (2004) Goalkeeper – State Player of the Year in 2004. Played at Division I Long Island University.
Brian Coleman (2002) Goalkeeper – Stellar play in 2002 helped win state championship.
Anthony Andrianarison (2009) Defender – State Player of the Year in 2009. Three-time Bull Run District Player of the Year and three-time All-State.
Peter Dittmar (2004) Defender – All-State in 2004 with a 21-assist season. Played at Division II Barton College.
Mike Chaves (2006) Defender – Two-time All-State with a 19 assist season.
Bubba Olson (2003) Defender – Sweeper with huge leadership qualities.
Pete Hamill (2004) Defender/Forward – 13 goals as defender, 27 goals as forward.
Matt Gresko (2008) Defender/ Mid-Fielder – Outstanding versatile talent.
Alex Casteuble (2010) Mid-Fielder – Great leader on 2009 state championship team with terrific all around skills (outside the decade – All-State on 2010 state championship team).
Colin Nannery (2003) Mid-Fielder – All-State. Played intercollegiately at Division I Longwood University and Division II Mars Hill College.
Elio Randrianasolo (2009) Mid-Fielder – All-State. Best ball skills of the decade.
Ariel Toom (2005) Mid-Fielder – Only George Mason player to play in three state championship games.
Ben Dietz (2001) Mid-Fielder – Hard-nosed player, amazing tackler, and ball winner.
Andrew Arias (2010 Mid-Fielder/ Forward – Terrific all-around player, producing at every position.
Jorge Salazar (2000) Forward – State Player of the Year in 2000. Established then single season record of 31 goals.
Ben Griffin (2002) Forward – State Player of the Year in 2002. Broke single season scoring record with 34 goals. Played at Mars Hill College and Southern Virginia University.
Nick Smiriniotopoulos (2010) Forward – All-State in 2009. (Outside the decade – State Player of the Year in 2010, breaking single season scoring and assist records with 36 goals and 33 assists.)
Josiah Larson (2005) Wildcard – Played mid-field for two years and goalkeeper for one year, allowing only two goals in district season. Played goalie at Mars Hill College.
Bobby Penland (2001) Wildcard – Goalkeeper for 2000 state champions. Defender in 2001 and at Division III Dickinson College.
