School Board Seeks Input on Superintendent Qualifications

The Falls Church City School Board is seeking public and staff input on the qualifications and characteristics for a new superintendent.

The Falls Church City School Board is seeking public and staff input on the qualifications and characteristics for a new superintendent. The School Board released the schedule for public hearings, an online survey, and the creation of a new website to gather community and staff feedback.

The School Board survey on superintendent qualifications, which is available to the community-at-large and staff, is available on the Falls Church City Public Schools website at www.fccps.org/supersearch. The survey is available until Dec. 1.

In addition to the survey, the Board will hold public hearings immediately prior to its regularly scheduled board meetings. A meeting was held Nov. 9, and another will be held Nov. 23. The public hearing will begin at 8 p.m. and will be held in the Chambers at City Hall, 300 Park Ave., Falls Church.

In addition, the School Board will gather community and staff input through four public hearings. Upcoming hearings will be held Nov. 23, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., in the main office conference room of Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, and Nov. 30, from 1:30 – 3 p.m., in the conference room of Thomaston Jefferson Elementary School.

“Hiring a new superintendent is the biggest task facing a School Board. We wanted to ensure ample opportunity for public input into this critical decision,” said School Board Chair Joan Wodiska. “We hope parents, students, staff and residents will take the time to fill out the survey or attend a public hearing.”
