It was almost midnight when freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly of the 11th District of Northern Virginia came before supporters at the Fairview Marriott in greater Falls Church tonight to deliver a victory speech. With only one heavily-Democratic precinct left to report, Connolly held a 500-vote lead over GOP challenger Keith Fimian.

According to News-Press reports, with a 487 vote lead for Connolly, there are two voting machines that allegedly malfunctioned and were taken to the Fairfax County Government Center where they will not be examined before 8 a.m. today. At that point their votes will be added to the total and a final canvas of the vote will occur.
