Best of Falls Church: Best Burger

Elevation Burger Founder Hans Hess may have left his California digs behind in 1999, but not so much his hankering for the organic and sustainable style of west coast burgers. So, he did what any man would do – he opened his own burger joint serving just the burgers he’d been craving.

Elevation Burger Founder Hans Hess may have left his California digs behind in 1999, but not so much his hankering for the organic and sustainable style of west coast burgers. So, he did what any man would do – he opened his own burger joint serving just the burgers he’d been craving.

And then he made us all crave them too.

Creative Fund and Brand Manager for Elevation Franchise Venture, LLC, James Stewart, dubbed Elevation’s quality products, homegrown feel and fun atmosphere as the three reasons its burgers took the cake among voters.

The organic, grass-fed free range beef burgers have been served in Falls Church since 2002, the most popular being its signature double-meat, double-cheese Elevation Burger made with real cheddar. And if two patties and twice the cheese isn’t enough, its Vertigo Burger encourages diners to “stack ‘em up” – literally. Anywhere from three to 10 patties can be piled high up to what some know burger heaven … or heartburn.

Regardless, Elevation Burger aims to keep it healthy with its 100-percent ground-on-premises beef, which it cooks in heart-healthy olive oil. Veggie and vegan burgers are also flipped, as well as a Half-the-Guilt Burger with one beef patty matched with one veggie patty.

Though Stewart couldn’t disclose how many burgers Elevation Burger’s Falls Church locations sells in a day, he did reveal exclusively that in-store activities are being planned for the restaurant’s five-year anniversary come Sept. 19.
