GENERAL ELECTION ON MAY 4, 2010:
The City of Falls Church General Election will be held on May 4, 2010. On the ballot will be four seats for City Council and four seats for School Board. As is required by §24.2-416 of the Code of Virginia, registration books closed on April 12, 2010. Registration applications were accepted as meeting the deadline if they were received by the Office of Voter Registration & Elections or postmarked by April 12, 2010. All citizens who will be 18 years old on or before May 4, 2010 are eligible to vote in this election. Hours for in-person absentee voting are the same as regular office hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and started Friday, April 2, 2010. Additionally, the Office of Voter Registration & Elections will open this Saturday prior to the General Election, May 1, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for in-person absentee voting. Applicants may download an application to vote absentee at www.fallschurchva.gov/vote or visit the Office of Voter Registration & Elections at 300 Park Ave. Room 101-E, Falls Church, VA 22046 or by calling 703-248-5085. Applications for absentee ballots by mail had to be received by Tuesday, April 27th at 5:00 p.m.
Republican Party Primary Election on June 8th, 2010:
The Republican Party Primary Election will be held on June 8, 2010. On the ballot will be two candidates running for the nomination of the Republican Party for the office of Member of United States House of Representatives for the 8th Congressional District. As is required by §24.2-416 of the Code of Virginia, registration books will close on May 17, 2010. Registration applications will be accepted as meeting the deadline if they are either received by the Office of Voter Registration & Elections or postmarked by May 17, 2010. Citizens who need to register to vote or update their registration address must do so by Mon, May 17 in order to be eligible to vote in the election. All citizens who will be 18 years old on or before November 9, 2010 are eligible to register and vote in this election (this means some 17 year old citizens will be able to vote in this Republican Party Primary Election as long as they are 18 years old by Nov 9, 2010, the date of the General Election).
