The Falls Church High School soccer teams came up short against Annandale on Monday. The boys lost 3-2, and the girls fell 2-1. The boys welcome Mount Vernon at 7 p.m. on Thursday, and the girls are at Mount Vernon at the same date and time.

Mason junior midfieldert Harris Schaffer (center) scored one of the Mustangs’ three goals that beat Rappahannock County, 3-1, Tuesday. The Mustang boys soccer team rallied from 1-0 to victory in its first Bull Run District game of the season. After a scoreless first half, Rappahannock went up 1-0 before Mason turned it on. Schaffer, Alex Casteuble and Erik Nelson each scored goals, and goalkeeper Tyler Back tallied 10 saves. The Falls Church High School soccer teams came up short against Annandale on Monday. The boys lost 3-2, and the girls fell 2-1. The boys welcome Mount Vernon at 7 p.m. on Thursday, and the girls are at Mount Vernon at the same date and time.

Boys lacrosse team fell to Edison 15-8 last Monday, and is at home against Stuart at 7:15 p.m. next Monday. The girls lacrosse team welcomes Edison on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

The boys tennis team was at home against Stuart on Wednesday after this newspaper’s deadline, and is at home against Hayfield on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Girls tennis was at Stuart after deadline, and is at Hayfield on Thursday at 4 p.m.

The Jaguar baseball team is at local rival Stuart on Friday at 7 p.m., and softball is at Stuart at 6 p.m.

After returning from the Beach Run Invitational at Myrtle Beach the past weekend, the track and field team was at Edison on Wednesday and is at home next Wednesday.


GEORGE C. MARSHALL H.S.

The Marshall High School softball team came out swinging against Thomas Jefferson at home on Tuesday, winning 11-1. The squad returns to actions Friday when it welcomes Langley.

Statesmen baseball lost to Washington and Lee 15-2 on Monday, and welcomes Langley Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Statesmen girls lacrosse team defeated McLean 9-7 in overtime on Monday, and is at Madison on Friday at 7:15 p.m. The boys lacrosse team is at South Lakes on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, the Statesmen girls tennis team resumed a rain-delay match against Fairfax, winning 8-1. The team swept all six singles matches, and faces Madison at home on Monday.

The boys tennis welcomes Stone Bridge on Friday at 4 p.m.

Boys soccer is at home against Fairfax on Thursday at 7 p.m., and the Lady Statesmen are at Fairfax at the same time.

Marshall track and field participates in the Northern Virginia Invitational this weekend at Edison.


GEORGE MASON H.S.

The Mason High School baseball team laid the wood against Rappahannock on Tuesday, winning its Bull Run District opener 8-0. Pitcher Brian Lubnow tossed a three-hit, complete-game shutout and struck out 13. Tyler Roth led the offensive attack with two hits and four RBI. The squad travels to Stonewall Jackson Thursday.

The softball team lost Tuesday to Rappahannock County, 16-6, and is at Flint Hill on Friday at 4:15 p.m.

Girls soccer is at Heritage on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The boys lacrosse team returned from break to suffer a close loss to Eastern High 8-6 on Monday. The squad is back in action on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Broad Run. The girls lacrosse team hosts Broad Run on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

The boys tennis team showed no mercy against Potomac Falls on Monday, winning 9-0. The girls tennis team defeated Broad Run 4-3 on Tuesday, and travels to Stone Ridge Country Day School in Maryland on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

The Mason boys and girls track and field team kicked off its season on Wednesday at Manassas Park after this paper’s deadline.


J.E.B. STUART H.S.

The Stuart High School boys soccer team defeated Madison 3-2 at home on Tuesday, and returns to the field on Thursday at Hayfield at 7 p.m. Girls soccer lost to Madison 8-0, and welcomes Hayfield on Thursday.

Boys lacrosse is at Wakefield on Friday, and girls lacrosse welcomes Wakefield on Friday.

Boys tennis plays at home on Friday at 4 p.m. against Washington and Lee, and the girls team is at Washington and Lee on Friday at 4 p.m.

Boys baseball hosts Falls Church on Friday at 6 p.m., and the softball team welcomes Falls Church at the same time.

The track and field team was at Hayfield on Wednesday after headline, and is at home next Wednesday.


MCLEAN H.S.

The McLean High School boys lacrosse team defeated Marshall 13-2 on Monday. The guys are at Stone Bridge on Friday at 7:15 p.m. After falling to Marshall on Monday, the girls lacrosse team welcomes Stone Bridge on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

The Highlander baseball team brought out the big bats and slammed South Lakes 10-0 Tuesday.

McLean’s softball team also had a good day against South Lakes, winning 19-2 in five innings. It is the team’s fifth victory in a row, and improves their its record to 7-1.

The McLean boys tennis team fell to  Madison on Monday 702, and is at Langley on Friday at 3:30 p.m. The girls tennis team also faces Langley Friday.

McLean girls soccer had a good day against Hayfield on Tuesday, winning 7-0. Lauren Zimmerman led the way with two goals, and Andie Romness added a goal and an assist. Logan Tapscott logged four saves in goal. The girls improve to 4-1 overall.

The boys soccer team defeated Hayfield 3-2 to improve to 4-0-1. The boys team was also recently named by national sports network ESPN’s ESPNRISE.com FAB 50 as the number 26 national team on its list of the top 50 nationwide high school soccer teams, updated monthly.
