Marshall Girls Tennis Falls 8-1 to TJ Wednesday

After rain delays canceled Monday and Tuesday matches, the Marshall High School girls varsity tennis team made it to the courts Wednesday to challenge regional powerhouse, Thomas Jefferson High.

Despite some rallies, the Lady Statesmen fell 8-1.

Thomas Jefferson’s more seasoned teams dominated early in the matches.

Lady Statesmen sophomore Patricia Garvey, however, proved to be Marshall’s sole point for the day.

Garvey battled back from an early deficit, finishing the match with a tiebreaker. After holding five match points, Garvey claimed victory.

The team is off court for spring break, and will take on Langley High on Monday, April 5.
