29th Annual Youth Art Show Kicks Off Wednesday at MPA

The 29th Annual Youth Art Show, featuring work from McLean-area Fairfax County Public School students in kindergarten through 12th grade, kicks off Wednesday at McLean Project for the Arts.

The 29th Annual Youth Art Show, featuring work from McLean-area Fairfax County Public School students in kindergarten through 12th grade, kicks off Wednesday at McLean Project for the Arts.

First up are elementary school-aged artists hailing from Chesterbook, Churchill Road, Franklin Sherman, Haycock, Kent Gardens, Lemon Road, Spring Hill and Westgate Elementary Schools. Their artwork will be on display for public viewing Wednesday, March 10 – Sunday, March 21. A reception for the elementary-level show will take place on Sunday, March 14 at 5 p.m. at McLean Project for the Arts (MPA).

Beginning on Thursday, March 25 and running through Sunday, April 4, a show dedicated to art produced by middle and high school-level students will be on display. A reception for those students, their families and others interested will take place Thursday, March 25 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Participating Fairfax County schools are Cooper and Longfellow Middle Schools, as well as Langley and McLean High Schools.

MPA will operate on extended gallery hours during the free-admission Elementary Youth Art exhibition, which is sponsored by the Woman’s Club of McLean. Additional hours include Tuesdays – Fridays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 – 5 p.m. All of the artwork featured in the show will stretch throughout the Emerson, Atrium and Ramp galleries of MPA, which is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue in McLean.
