Despite Blizzard, Drinks, Dining Alive & Well in Downtown Falls Church This Saturday Night

At least three popular dining spots with well-stocked bars are open tonight downtown in the City of Falls Church, the News-Press has established through a series of investigative phone calls, even though the roads are impassible.

Vowing to stay open up to 2 a.m. as long as there are customers, and offering their full dining menu, are the Dogwood Tavern, 132 W. Broad St., and Clare & Don’s Beach Shack, 130 N. Washington. Staying open until around 11, depending, with a limited menu in its bar section only is the Irelands Four Provinces, 105 W. Broad St. All three are at or within a half-block of the intersection of Routes 29 and 7 for anyone who can reach them on foot.

In addition, Bentley’s Diner, just over the City border at 6654 Arlington Blvd., is also reported to be open- a quote on their Facebook page reading “The B is open – state of emergency or no breakfast must be served……….the world can end but the pancakes must survive! See the brave in the AM!”.

Anthony’s Restaurant, 309 W. Broad, was slated to close around 7 p.m. tonight, and Argia’s Restaurant announced earlier today that it is closed until Monday. Other downtown Falls Church restaurants did not answer their phones when called.

On Sunday, all the restaurants contacted said they planned to be open at their usual time, with Anthony’s at 8 a.m for breakfast, and Dogwood Tavern for a brunch and bloody mary bar at 10:30 a.m., Ireland’s Four Provinces at 11 a.m.. but with no brunch bar, and Clare and Don’s at 11:30 a.m. Bentley’s opens at 7 a.m.
