Tysons Area Traffic Increase Expected Today & Tomorrow

An increase in traffic this evening and tomorrow along Leesburg Pike in Tysons is expected due to memorial services for a DEA agent killed in Afghanistan.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14, in honor of DEA Special Agent Forrest N. Leamon. Special Agent Leamon died in the line of duty in Afghanistan on Monday, October 26. The Fairfax County Police Department expects an increase in traffic volume this evening and throughout the day tomorrow in the Tysons area, particularly around the McLean Bible Church, located at 8925 Leesburg Pike.

•   On Friday, November 13, traffic is expected to increase prior to 7 p.m. and after 9 p.m. during visitation at the church.

•   On Saturday, the heaviest influx of traffic is expected between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

• Police presence will increase Saturday around the church starting at 7:30 a.m. as officers prepare for the funeral service which starts at 11 a.m.

Numerous police, auxiliary and motor officers will be present outside the church to direct traffic and facilitate the flow of vehicles into and out of the church. We recommend drivers seek alternate routes during these times and ask everyone driving in the area to please be patient and be alert for officers in the roadways directing traffic.
