City of F.C. Election Results: High Turnout Goes 2-to-1 for Democrats

Radically bucking statewide patterns, with over 50 percent of registered voters casting ballots Tuesday (compared to 30 percent in neighboring Fairfax County), City of Falls Church election results showed a consistent two-to-one edge for the Democrat in all contested races on the ballot, including for Creigh Deeds for Governor (64.7 percent), Jody Wagner for Lieutenant Governor (66.5 percent), Steve Shannon for Attorney General (66.74 percent) and Del. Jim Scott (67.37 percent) in the 53rd State Assembly District, and a similar result broken down by the City’s six precincts.

Neighboring Fairfax County with 80 percent of precincts reporting, all three in the Democratic statewide slate were ahead, but for Deeds it was by less than 1,000 votes (100,991 to 100,262).

Democratic Del. Scott secured re-election in the 53rd District with 61.3 percent overall, and newcomer Democrat Kaye Kory won with 59.5 percent in the 38th District. However, incumbent Democratic Del. Margi Vanderhye was trailing by 184 votes (10,531 to 10,347) to the GOP’s Barbara Comstock with 18 of 20 precincts in the 34th District reporting.
