The Falls Church High School co-ed dance team is holding tryouts for its winter season. There is a dance clinic on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. Tryouts will be Nov. 9 – 11. Jaguars Volleyball Loses Two Matches, Faces Edison

The Falls Church varsity volleyball team lost 3-0 to West Potomac last Thursday. The team lost Tuesday, 3-0, against Westfield High. Tonight is the girls’ Senior Night against Edison.

Falls Church Football Sells Cowbells Ahead of Stuart Game

Falls Church High School is selling cowbells for the upcoming football game against hometown rival J.E.B. Stuart.

Cowbells are $8, two for $15 or three for $20. They can be ordered online by e-mailing kk_evans@verizon.net.

The Stuart game is Nov. 6, and bells will be available before or at the game.

Statesmen Volleyball Fall to Highlanders in Four Sets

Marshall’s varsity volleyball team fell 3-1 Monday night against crosstown rival McLean during Marshall’s Senior Night.

Marshall had previously lost against Langley High School, 3-0, last Wednesday. Currently, Marshall has two wins and 11 losses. The team faces South Lakes High this evening, Oct. 29 in an away match.

Mustangs Volleyball Rebounds Following Week of Losses

With a record of seven wins and 10 losses, George Mason’s varsity volleyball team rebounded last Thursday with a 3-1 win over Manassas Park.

Senior Chantal Thomas had a block and an assist. Sophomores Rachel Bell and Joy Nystrom had two kills each. Junior Katie Breen had two assists and three kills. Senior Taylor Bottock and junior Anna Horneman each made two aces.

Stuart Raiders Lose Game Against Old Foe Hayfield

In its first meeting in more than a decade, Stuart’s football team faced off against Hayfield High. The Stuart Raiders lost the game to the Eagles, 59-21.

The game marked the first under Hayfield’s interim Head Coach Roy Hill, who is temporarily replacing Bill Pugh until Pugh recovers from a stroke he suffered Monday.

Stuart junior Chris Ventura managed two of the team’s touchdowns that evening, with senior Jason Friday making a 56-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

After Loss to Yorktown, Stuart Volleyball Takes 3-0 Win

The Stuart volleyball team won 3-0 over Mount Vernon High last Monday.

Highlanders Football Face One-Sided Win Vs. Fairfax

McLean football suffered a 55-17 loss against Fairfax High last Friday.

Scoring for McLean was junior Andrew Hunt in the second quarter with a 36-yard field goal, and senior Riley Beiro with a touchdown in both of the third and fourth quarters. Hunt made the kick for both of Beiro’s touchdowns.

Highlanders Volleyball Take Third Win of the Season

The McLean varsity volleyball team picked up a win over Marshall on Monday following last Wednesday’s close 3-2 loss over Langley High.
