Falls Church Man with Gun Arrested Near Capitol During Obama Address

U.S. Capitol Police arrested Joshua Bowman, 28, of Falls Church last night when Bowman attempted to enter a restricted area near the Capitol during Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress.

Bowman’s intentions were unclear, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. He was arrested around 8 p.m. at a security checkpoint, after asking to park his four-door Honda Civic near the Cannon House Office Building.

Police found a shotgun and ammunition during a vehicle search ordered when Bowman’s request raised guards’ suspicions. He was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm and ammunition, police said.
