Mammoth Police Response to Call Alledging Hostage Situation Turns Up Nothing in F.C.

According to the City of Falls Church Public Information Office, in a call to the News-Press at 6:47 p.m. EDT Saturday, a multi-jurisdictional police response, including Fairfax County SWAT units, in the area of Falls Church around S. West Street and Kennedy St. Saturday afternoon turned up no evidence of an armed hostage situation that had been called in around 2 p.m.

Police went door-to-door through the neighborhood, which had been identified as the area from which the anonymous call came through a Crime Solvers line. Police were not able to directly trace the source of the call. According to the FC PIO office, a second call from the same caller, about an hour and a half after the first, declared the initial call was a hoax.
