Mason Soccer Teams Deliver Solid Victories, Head to Region B Championships

The George Mason High School boys and girls varsity soccer teams won their respective Region B semifinal games yesterday, with the boys delivering a 2-0 win over Nelson County, and girls crushing Appomattox 4-0.

The George Mason High School boys and girls varsity soccer teams won their respective Region B semifinal games yesterday, with the boys delivering a 2-0 win over Nelson County, and girls crushing Appomattox 4-0.

For the boys, junior Nick Smirniotopoulos scored the first goal on a rebound in the first half. Junior Eric Nelson followed suit in the second half in the last 18 minutes of the game.

The wins propel the teams to their regional championships; the boys will face Stonewall Jackson in an away game Friday night at 6 p.m., while the girls travel to Wilson Memorial.
