Editor Recommends

Homestretch Wine Tasting and Silent Auction Fundraiser, Gannett-USA Today Building, McLean, Friday, Sept. 28, 7 p.m. on.

It’s not often that I’ll recommend a non-profit fundraiser in this space, as I worry that if I do, then all the many very good causes around will beg for the same attention. Well, we do our best in this paper to make sure our readers are aware of as many as possible. In this case, the Homestretch fundraiser is at an interesting venue, and the wines from around the world selected for sampling are from the Wine Cabinet of Reston. Music will be provided by the Stolen Moments jazz band. Founded in 1990, Homestretch is a City of Falls Church based effort to provide transitional housing and services to bring families with children out of homeless shelters to where they can make it on their own in society. For more information and tickets for Friday, check out www.homestretch-inc.org.
