Editor Recommends

Legg Mason Tennis Classic, William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center, Rock Creek Park, Washington, D.C., finals Sunday afternoon.

It’s easy to recommend this come every early August, because the cozy confines of Washington, D.C.’s premiere tennis venue give fans a very intimate look at some of the best tennis players in the world. Granted, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have never played in this tourney, but many among the biggest names in the sport have. This week, Andy Roddick is looking strong. His game is on, so he’s the odds on favorite to win over the likes of Marat Safin and Andy Murray. The overall ambience of the place is very pleasant. My only caveat: if you’re into getting the complete bobble-head collection of the four presidents at RFK, then you’d better devote Saturday night to picking up Tom Jefferson at the Nationals’ game.
