Jody’s Jam of the Week

Horse & Hound Festival, Ballston Arts & Crafts Market, Improvapalooza, All July 14th

It’s multiple-jams this Saturday with three spots worth checking out. First, for the roadtrippers, there’s the Horse & Hound Wine Festival in Bedford, Va. (four hours from F.C.). Not only does it feature nine Virginia wineries, but also live music, food, crafts, and, check this out, muskrat racing and dancing dogs. That’s worth the $15 gate right there. Closer to home is the Ballston Arts & Crafts Market and Bastille Day Celebration across from the Ballston Metro. As Saturday is officially Bastille Day, the theme will be Fête! with vendors, music and more. In the evening, the Washington Improv Theater presents Improvapalooza, featuring 26 improv shows, 10 minutes a pop, played back-to-back. It’s being described as the “best and craziest improv you will ever see and the most fun party of the summer.” With a group of shows that includes one called “Bad Walken” – a universe where everyone has a bad Christopher Walken impression, how can you possible pass this up?
