Jody’s Jam of the Week

Independence Day at The Mall, GMHS, Falls Church, and More

It’s a holiday weekend! Or is it? Since the 4th of July falls right smack dab in the middle of the week this year, it’s been difficult coordinating holiday plans. Do you take off Monday and Tuesday and make this weekend extra-long? Or do you follow up Independence Day by playing hooky on Thursday and Friday and make next weekend the one? Then there’s the chance that you can’t take any days off and the 4th just ends up being a non-workday, a wasted day off ‘cause it falls on hump day. Regardless of your pre-, post-, or non-holiday plans, I think we can all agree Wednesday should be spent outside among friends and family with a cold beverage in hand, some kind of grilled animal on a bun, ogling fireworks in the summer sky. Now, whether you decide to fight the mob on the Mall, downtown, lug the lawn chairs to George Mason High or just relax in your own backyard, it’s up to you. Just make sure to light a sparker or two— that is a must.
