Mason High Girls Lax Undefeated at 5-0

The George Mason High School girls varsity lacrosse team’s undefeated run has reached five games, sending the team into the spring break with a perfect 5-0 record.

The Mustangs first extended their streak with an 8-6 overtime win over Washington-Lee, riding on the goaltending prowess of Emily Perry and her 11 saves in net. On the offensive end of the field, Sally Blakemore recorded six goals for the second time in four games to pace the Mustang attack.

A day after the overtime thriller, Mason stepped up its attack to turn its game against Park View into a one-sided, 15-0 blowout. Six different girls scored for the Mustangs, led by Hannah Baumgartner’s five and Blakemore’s hat trick. Catherine Duarte, Bailey Walton, Allie Atkeson and Maddie Kaplow also recorded goals in the victory.

The Mustangs next travel to face Brentsville at 6 p.m. next Wednesday, April 11.

 

Mustangs Dominate Stonewall for Series Sweep

Goaltender Eric Casteuble needed to make just one save to earn the shutout and complete the two-game series sweep for the George Mason High School boys varsity soccer team against Stonewall Jackson.

Elio Randrianasolo put the Mustangs on the board at the 31-minute mark, converting a penalty kick opportunity. Anthony Andriarason sent a header into the back of the net 25 minutes later off a cross from Randrianasolo to stake the Mustangs to a two-goal lead. Andrew Arias scored an unassisted goal at the 68-minute mark to cap the scoring for Mason.

The Mustangs continue the season Tuesday, April 10 at home against Washington-Lee at 7 p.m.

 

Mason High Tops Yorktown on Hardcourts

The George Mason High School girls tennis team ended its pre-spring break high school on a high note, beating Yorktown 5-4, March 26.

Mason top singles player Michelle Repper cruised to an 8-2 victory in her singles match, before teaming with Anna Duning to claim the No. 1 doubles by the same margin. Louise Robertson rallied from down 6-5 to win 8-6 at No. 6 singles. No. 3 Kelsey Kane (8-5) and No. 4 Yesha Shrestha (8-6) also chalked up wins for the Mustangs.

Mason returns to the courts at home against Brentsville next Wednesday, April 11.
