26th Annual Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Saturday, March 3 in Old Town Alexandria

It’s never too early to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and this weekend is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of that fact. Even though the actual holiday is more than two weeks away, March 1st marks the beginning of Irish-American Heritage month and the 26th Annual Alexandria St. Patrick’s Day Parade is taking place this Saturday along King Street in Old Town. The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with the Invitational Classic Car Show and continue with the Fun Dog Show at 10:30. At 12:30 p.m., the parade will begin with Grand Marshal and former City of Alexandria Mayor Kerry Donley leading the way. Throughout the festivities, King Street will be closed to traffic, so if you decide to celebrate Irish-American Heritage a little too much, you won’t have to worry about dodging cars. In addition to the parade sponsored events, Old Town is home to two of Alexandria’s premiere Irish pubs, Murphy’s and Pat Troy’s, so be sure to take advantage while you’re there.
