Editor Recommends: Legg Mason Tennis Classic

The weather will cool down to the upper 80s starting Thursday, and I cannot recommend stepping out into it before then, but it means the final four days of this annual classic lead-up to the U.S. Open should fully rival past seasons, even if defending champ Andy Roddick has withdrawn due to an injury. It’s OK, this is not Roddick’s year, anyway. But there are plenty of legends on hand, including, of course, Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt, Marat Safin, James Blake, Paradorn Shrichaphan, Tim Henman and others. Keep your eye on young Brit Andy Murray, heir to Henman as the bearer of the Britannia’s hopes for future glory.

Legg Mason Tennis Classic, William H. G. FitzGerald Tennis Center, Washington, D.C., through Sunday.
