The senior competition will begin on Jan. 14 and conclude on Jan. 17. Junior competition will take place on Jan. 20 and 21. There will be no spectators, but the seats will be filled with cardboard cutouts and fans were encouraged to submit their pictures for the cutouts. The sound of applause will be piped in.

Mason clawed back into contention by tying the game at 41 and sending it into overtime, but the Mustangs never led during the period and were ultimately outdone by the visitors from Norfolk.

Rollins’ back-to-back three-pointers pushed Mason ahead 35-28 with 3:28 remaining and came at just the right time as the Tigers had cut into the Mustangs’ 27-21 lead that started off the fourth quarter.

Mason’s girls have to exorcise some demons from last year’s near-berth to the state tournament, while one poor quarter torpedoed Mason’s boys postseason in the opening game.
