Fairfax junior tennis player Natasha Subhash continued her run of success on Monday during the first round of the U.S. Open Junior Tournament being played at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center before being eliminated from the tournament on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The 14-year-old Subhash, a freshman at Falls Church High School, won her third match in four days.

Playing a solid and consistent game, she eliminated Italy’s Beatrice Torelli, 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. Subhash won two rounds of qualifying on Friday and Saturday to earn entry into the main draw.

“I wasn’t expecting to win a match, but I’m really feeling confident right now and I want to see how far I can go,” Subhash said. “It’s been amazing. I’m really excited to get in through the qualifying and now into the second round.”

Also winning big on Monday was Fulton, Md., resident Raveena Kingsley. She beat Canada’s Bianca Andreescu, 6-1, 6-1.

Subhash was eliminated in the second round in singles, as she fell to the No. 11 seed from Hungary Fanny Stollar, 6-0, 6-3.

In doubles, she and her partner Ann Li lost to the Colombian team of Maria Harzao Gonzalez and Yuliana Monroy, 6-4, 1-6, 10-8, in the first round.
