F.C. Council Votes 6-1 to Launch Process for Sale of Water System

By a vote of 6-1 (Vice Mayor Snyder dissenting) the F.C. City Council tonight launched a process aimed at selling the City’s water system for a minimum of $44 million. It authorized the City Manager to put the system out to bid on Wednesday along lines reported by the FCNP earlier this evening. City Attorney John Foster reminded the Council that action needed to be taken tonight to fit a time line to get the matter on the general election ballot for public referendum on a proposed sale in November. It was also clarified that a minimum $44 million bid would be accepted. Snyder argued that the minimum bid was too low.
