Mayor and City Council Declare November as “Live Local” Month

Falls Church Mayor Letty Hardi and the Falls Church City Council have officially proclaimed November as Live Local Month in partnership with the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce. Residents and local businesses are encouraged to take the “Live Local” pledge and keep 20 percent more of their regular spending within the City during November. The initiative leverages the economic “multiplier effect,” where local spending supports community tax revenue, funds public services like schools and roads, and sustains small businesses and over 100 local restaurants. Beyond the economy, the proclamation notes that shopping and dining locally reduces traffic congestion, lowers environmental pollution, encourages walking, and strengthens neighborhood relationships.
