Editor’s Update: 8-11-2024

There’s no doubt in my mind that former House speaker Nancy Pelosi was absolutely instrumental in the remarkable unfolding of events in just the last couple of weeks that has propelled the new Harris-Walz ticket to the forefront of this year’s critical election..

Though she nor probably anyone else will fully admit it, it was her contact with Joe Biden in the days before he withdrew from the race that was the most decisive. She was perhaps the only person in the world who could have convinced Joe to step aside, and I believe she did. A truly remarkable woman and leader she is.

The primary reason many of us, myself included, were resolved to stick with Joe right up to the last was because the option of his dropping out left only the spectre of chaos and certain defeat. Who knew how magnificently well organized and orchestrated the transition to the Harris candidacy would turn out to be? Again, I see the hand of Nancy Pelosi!

In a TV interview this week, she said that winning requires first of all the Decision to Win, and the subsequent mobilization has to involve no wasted time, no underutilized resources, and no regrets.

Her new book is now out, not a memoir but a primer in politics entitled, “The Art of Power.” You will be surprised at what she says in it is her primary motivation for her extraordinary life of public service. Children..
