Project Leader Workshop. For years, residents across Virginia have been a part of the Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child, which helps millions of children in need through gift-filled shoeboxes. Community Blood Drive. The Inova Blood Donor Services supports 9/11 Day by offering the community an opportunity to honor those who lost their lives and the heroes who responded following the tragic events of Sept.11. Call for Entries: Falls Church Arts ‘Scapes’ Exhibit. Artists are invited to contemplate the ‘Scapes that inhabit their world, inner or outer, real or imagined, representational or abstract, macro- or microscopic. Exhibition is from October 8 — November 13. Deadline for submission is midnight.

Creative Cauldron Cabaret Series. Every weekend through September, Creative Cauldron is saluting the best musical and musical theater talent in the DMV with a cabaret series! This Friday, September 9, Sarah Anne Sillers (SHOUT! The Mod Musical) and Joshua Simon (Beauty and the Beast) reunite at Creative Cauldron with their husbands, pianists Andrew Kullberg and Brandon Scott Heishman, for a one-night-only musical “double date,” and Saturday, September 10, Susan Derry of Broadway and Bold New Works returns after her record-breaking holiday cabaret for a tour de force of musical theater and opera with her humor and signature soprano voice.

“Wild”—an all-media exhibit. Thirty-one artists will be featured in an all-media exhibit inspired by the word “Wild” at the Falls Church Arts gallery from August 20 to October 2. The theme for this exhibit was selected in collaboration with Falls Church Arts Instagram followers who narrowed down a list of words that represented possible show themes. Media used in the exhibit include oil on canvas, silkscreen, mixed media, photography, marker, acrylic, porcelain, watercolor, ink block printing, ink and inktense pencil, reduction linocut, and ceramic.
