Preliminary OK Given to Expanding Tax Relief

The F.C. Council voted 7-0 to expand tax relief programs for elderly, disabled and low income citizens Monday, bringing the City’s program more closely in line though still not on a par with neighboring jurisdictions. The final vote on the changes will come at the July 8 Council meeting.

Councilman Phil Duncan said he felt it important to give a “full-throated affirmation” to the added benefits, and that there “should not be too many guardrails or too much paperwork.”
