Last week, George Mason High School hosted the Region meet for Scholastic Bowl, competing against Clarke County, Luray and Robert E. Lee high schools. Questions for the competition are complex and wide-ranging covering history, science, poetry, literature, art, geography, grammar, current affairs and more.
Mason won its first match against Robert E. Lee 195-165; lost its second to Clarke County 310-65 and while Mason was up at the end of the second set against Luray, Mason fell by a final score of 210-175, concluding its season.
Clarke County finished first and advances to the state tournament.
