Adelia Di Scipio, a student-athlete at Commonwealth Academy in Alexandria and Falls Church resident, has signed a formal letter of intent to play women’s lacrosse at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI in fall 2017.
Commonwealth Academy recently hosted a special Signing Day Ceremony for Addie, her parents and her high school classmates, to honor her being awarded a Merit Scholarship to a NCAA Division III University and to highlight her many achievements while at Commonwealth. Addie is scheduled to graduate from Commonwealth Academy in June 2017 with an advanced diploma and certificate in STEM-Engineering.
“Addie has been an exemplary student, excelling in both Science and Math. As an athlete, she is a leader by example, never slacking off. While her demeanor is quiet, her heart, passion and competitive drive are what make her so good at lacrosse,” Commonwealth’s Athletic Director, Jeff Brown, said in remarks at the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Addie thanked her parents, lacrosse coach Hank Donnelly and teachers at Commonwealth and expressed gratitude to Roger Williams for helping her to achieve her dream of playing sports in college.
“The Roger Williams University athletic mission promotes the values of responsibility, accountability, commitment, discipline and preparing for success in future endeavors. It’s clear that Addie will be a perfect match for Roger Williams. In turn, the University is lucky to be getting such a great student-athlete,” Brown said.
