F.C. Schools Honor Veterans at Mason and TJ

George Mason High School and Thomas Jefferson Elementary School are honoring military veterans who served in the U.S. military this month. Mason has a display in its main hallway, which was created by teachers Eleanor Hawkesworth, Sarah Gurgo and Frank Sheedy.

According to the Falls Church City Public Schools’ Morning Announcements, it was created to honor Mason alumni and staff who served in the military. With robust input from graduates, the list has grown to nearly 300 people. Almost all of the Mason graduating classes, dating back to 1953, are represented. At TJ, the front office is lined with posters honoring staff and their family members who served in the military. The display includes photos that includes veterans from World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm and Iraq War.
