40-Year City of F.C. Resident Dies

Charles R. “Chuck” Bowmaster passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 surrounded by his family and loved ones in his Falls Church, Virginia home. Born and raised in the Lock Haven/Avis, Pennsylvania area, Chuck was a 40 year resident of the City of Falls Church.

Upon graduation from Jersey Shore H.S., in 1947, Chuck served 4 years in the Air Force and later earned degrees from both Shephard College and Embry Riddle Aeronautical College. Chuck was a member of Falls Church American Legion Post 130, McLean VFW Post 824, and Arlington-Fairfax Elks Lodge.

A life-long government employee, Chuck worked for 29 years as an Air Traffic Controller at both Washington National Airport and later the Leesburg Control Center.

Chuck is survived by his devoted and loving companion Fatima Neto, son Charles Bowmaster, Jr. (Paula); step-daughter Thea Terranova (Sam); grandchildren Jason, Heather, Laura, Joe and Erin. He is also survived by five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m – 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 4:30pm, with Monsignor Frank E. Mahler officiating. Final services will held privately at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 130, 400 N. Oak St., Falls Church, VA 22046/VFW Post 8241, 1051 Spring Hill Rd., McLean, VA 22102 or the Catholic Diocese of Arlington (PRV), 200 N. Glebe Rd. #914, Arlington, VA 22203.
