Mason Wind Ensemble Invited to Perform at Carnegie Hall

The George Mason High School Music Department recently announced that its Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the legendary Carnegie Hall in spring 2017. It will be one of five high school musical groups chosen to take the stage at Carnegie Hall in an adjudicated performance on March 21, 2017.

Mason’s Percussion Ensemble, Chorus and Symphonic Band will attend workshops with professional Broadway musicians before attending the Wind Ensemble’s performance at Carnegie Hall. “It is truly exciting for the GM musicians to be chosen to perform at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall,” said Mary Jo West, the band’s director and 2014 Grammy Finalist for Music Educator of the Year.

“The opportunity to perform here is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We hope to showcase our finest performance and have every member of the Wind Ensemble onstage.”
