McLean Community Center Announces September Events

The McLean Community Center recently announced its slate of events for September, which includes a community garage sale, a fun event for children ages 3 – 8, a performance by a world-renowned dance company and an author talk.

The McLean Community Center’s September schedule kicks off with its Fall Community Garage Sale on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the parking garage, located at 1420 Beverly Road, McLean. Admission to the garage sale, which includes more than 50 vendors selling gently used household goods, furniture, clothing, jewelry and other treasures, is free.

On Saturday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. McLean Community Center is hosting Harvest Happenings. Admission to the event is $5 per person, but children 3 and under will be admitted for free. The indoor-outdoor festival will include live entertainment, crafts and games. All activities are included in the entrance fee with the exception of the purchase of pumpkins for $3 and food concessions.

That night the world-renowned Martha Dance Company will perform at the McLean Community Center’s The Alden theater at 8 p.m. There will be a discussion with the artists following the performance. Tickets for the event are $35 for McLean Community Center district residents and $50 for everyone else.

Closing out the month is an author talk with Patricia Briggs, the author of the New York Times bestselling Marcy Thompson urban fantasy series, on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m. Briggs will talk about her work, take your questions and sign books in this event that’s being cosponsored by the Fairfax County Public Library and the Fall for the Book festival.
