Roosevelt Pavement Work Begins

The pavement reconstruction project on Roosevelt Blvd. in the City of Falls Church started Wednesday, according to a statement from the City. One lane will remain open in each direction through the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed by August 12, subject to change. The project stretches from Wilson Blvd. to the City limits (11th Rd. N.). Access to all properties will be maintained. Construction will occur from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the northbound lane and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the southbound lane.

This reconstruction project is different from the usual repaving and require more time to complete. Roosevelt Blvd. has weak and inconsistent base materials under the asphalt, which has led to numerous pothole repairs and pavement failures.
