American Legion Post 130 Hosts 6th Annual Axe Throwing Contest

A bunch of axes flying through the air at a contest named for a woman acquitted for the murder of her father and stepmother over 100 years ago? It may sound dangerous, but it’s actually a contest that’s been happening in Falls Church since 2011. Well, it still could be dangerous.

American Legion Post 130 at 400 N. Oak Street is hosting its 6th Annual Lizzie Borden Axe Throwing Contest on Saturday, Aug. 6. Registration for the contest starts at 11:30 a.m. and costs $20. The axe throwing begins at 1 p.m.

There will prizes for the top three competitors and commemorative t-shirts and glasses. The Josh Allen Band, which plays classic rock, southern rock, country, oldies and more, will perform at the event from 4 – 8 p.m. For more information, visit post130.org.
