F.C. School Employee Arrested for Alleged Embezzlement

The cafeteria manager at Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences, Fadwa Sarsaur, 51, of Alexandria, was arrested today shortly after 1 p.m. for allegedly taking a large sum of money from several different lunch accounts over the course of three years, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

According to police, detectives from the department’s Major Crimes Division began an investigation on Thursday, June 16 into the alleged embezzling of money from student lunch accounts at Bailey’s Elementary, located at 6111 Knollwood Dr., Falls Church. Police said that they were notified about the allegation from the Fairfax County Public Schools Internal Investigations Section after a member of management in food services discovered discrepancies in accounting records.

After the investigation, which revealed that money was being taken from the student accounts since 2013, detectives obtained warrants for three counts of embezzlement for Sarsaur, who turned herself into the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center Friday afternoon.
