Arlington County Bar Association Receives Award

The Arlington County Bar Association is slated to receive an Award of Merit at the 78th Virginia State Bar Annual Meeting, which takes places from Thursday, June 16 – Sunday, June 19. The association is receiving the award for developing the Young Lawyers Initiative with the aim of attracting younger members of the bar to join the Arlington County Bar Association.

42 new members joined the association through the initiative in its first year, according to the Conference of Local Bar Associations, the group that selected the Arlington County Bar Association for the award. The amount of new members was double what they usually expect in a given year.

The bar formed a Young Lawyer Section and has since sponsored a Young Lawyer Orientation, is planning a Breakfast with the Judges and holds regular luncheon meetings that include a one-hour Continuing Legal Education credit.

Other associations that will receive an award at the annual meeting are The Alexandria Bar Association, for its Jazz4Justice program,  and The Prince William County Bar Association, Inc., which is receiving two awards. One award is for its work with the Prince William County Area Agency on Aging and the other is for sponsoring the Access to Justice Summit. For more information, visit vsb.org.
