Northside Social, the Arlington coffee and wine cafe soon coming to The Little City, was named “Favorite Gathering Place” of the year Sunday night at the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington’s 34th annual RAMMY awards. A second location of the award-winning restaurant is set to open in the American Legion “Blue & Gray” building in the City of Falls Church later this fall, with construction beginning this month.

Three current Falls Church restaurants – Taco Bamba, Pizzeria Orso and 2941 Restaurant – were also RAMMY finalists at the gala celebrating food service industry professionals around D.C. but failed to bring home the hardware.

While the District dominated the awards, several Virginia restaurants, chefs and companies came away winners including  Jonah Kim from Arlington’s Yona named “Rising Culinary Star of the Year,” Alexandria’s Port City Brewing Company nabbing “Regional Food and Beverage Producer of the Year” and Mike Isabella Concepts, with restaurants throughout the D.C. area including Requin in Mosaic District, winning “Restaurateur of the Year.”
